Granite Information

Granite is a natural product, formed by magma deep beneath the Earth's surface. It is regarded as one of the strongest, most durable stones in nature, second only to the diamond. Granite is composed of three minerals: feldspar, quartz and mica. These three minerals give granite its durability. Because of its density, granite is extremely heavy. A standard single upright monument can weigh as much as 1,100 pounds.

Proper care of a granite memorial is simple and can help keep the memorial looking new over the years. For a free brochure on the care and maintenance of granite memorials, please stop by our store and pick one up.

Granite is available in a many different colors such as black, blue, green, grey and red. Each of these colors have a variety of shades ranging from very dark to light. Below are some examples of different granite colors.

Please note that the granite samples shown below are meant to be representations of the granite color only. Granite colors vary depending on its formation and may appear lighter or darker than what is shown.
